I care more about making something nice that people can use, and it’s free and it makes a difference.Open-source and secure, the year-old, ever-growing project offers group instant messaging that works on web browsers and mobile phones and includes file-sharing services. “It’s not like money is something I don’t understand. “Money is great, money is amazing,” he said. His ambitions with Cryptocat are not financial, though he is trying to raise $2,000 to cover his costs for the next year. “I love it when people criticize me,” he said, pausing for a second and then amending his words. He appears to be wide open and unguarded about himself. “I don’t think they’re going to stop being evil or become more evil because of Cryptocat.” “Evil people have been evil forever,” he said. Kobeissi said he had been startled by those complaints. The invention of powerful tools to thwart the commercial and governmental collection of personal data has been criticized as creating hiding places for terrorists and online sexual predators. Appelbaum and a documentary filmmaker, Laura Poitras, are holding a teach-in Friday evening at the Whitney Museum of American Art on the subject of surveillance. A recent article in Wired magazine detailed big advances in United States government surveillance capabilities. The group met over the weekend at a code-a-thon organized by Julia Angwin of The Wall Street Journal, which has chronicled the spread of commercial surveillance in everyday technology in a vital series of articles and engaging online demonstrations called What They Know. This will generate the digits that are part of the encryption process. They figured out a way to encrypt a chat on an Android phone by shaking it, taking advantage of the motion detectors in many smartphones. He had help last weekend from the Guardian Project, a group of developers who are trying to make mobile phones secure. Kobeissi started building Cryptocat a year ago in his bedroom with the goal of making it simple to encrypt an online conversation. There is nothing new about encryption technology, but it is a brain-breaking subject, and the tools for using it are tricky. Cryptocat and a few other services disguise the content of chat messages so that they look like gibberish to anyone who does not have the encryption key. The Arab Spring showed that the power of the Internet and Web communications is a multi-edged blade, with activists able to organize through social media and to get their stories out, and authoritarian governments often able to target the activists by following the trail of digital crumbs.Īmong the conspicuous sources of information are the chat transcripts often kept on commercial servers, making it easy to see who was talking, what they talked about, and when the conversations took place. It’s just as easy to use as Facebook chat, Google chat, anything.” Kobeissi, who was born in Lebanon and said he had lived through four wars. “The whole point of Cryptocat is that you click a link and you’re chatting with someone over an encrypted chat room,” said Mr. This group was building a project called Cryptocat, which has a simple, countercultural goal: people should be able to talk on the Internet without being subjected to commercial or government surveillance. Kobeissi, 21, now a college student in Montreal, spent the weekend in New York City with elders of his tribe, software code writers who have ambitions that do not involve making suitcases of money off clever applications for sharing photographs online. “Please,” he protested, “you shouldn’t pay for my omelet.” Nadim Kobeissi, master hacker, summoned for interrogation multiple times as a teenager by cyber-intelligence authorities in Beirut, Lebanon, sat in the backyard of a restaurant in Brooklyn, astounded that he was being treated to lunch.

If you need a digital exit where on/off means playing/not-playing, use an RS Flip-flop: This is not required, but useful to keep the fake and the real music server in sync. Time: analog, push the time of the current song being played.Pushing 0 will set the player in "streaming" mode. Duration: analog, push the duration, in seconds, of the current song being played.Artist: text, push the album of the current song being played.Album: text, push the album of the current song being played.Title: text, push the title of the current song being played. You have access to the following outputs: After importing them, and before anything else, you will have to configure the IP of the LoxBerry, replacing by the real IP. Virtual outputs: those will let you inform the plugin about data needed by the player.Repeat: analog, represents the repeating state ( 0 = do not repeat, 1 = repeat one song, 2 = repeat playlist).Shuffle: analog, represents the shuffling state ( 0 = not active, 1 = active).Queue index: analog, represents the position in the queue, as 0-based index.Time: analog, represents the current time set by the user, in seconds (e.g.Volume: analog, represents the volume set by the user on a range.Pause: digital, will emit a pulse when pausing.Play: digital, will emit a pulse when starting to play. Virtual inputs: those will let you know when something happens in a zone, triggered by the user. You can download templates for both of them from the configuration page. Now it's time to bring in the virtual inputs and outputs to be able to act on them. After rebooting you should get the zone as connected, with the player stopped. Drag the first zone of the Music Server and make it visible in the UI.Set as its address, where 192.168.1.2 is the IP address of the LoxBerry.Head to the Loxone Config, and add a Music Server (Audio/Add Audio Server/Loxone Music Server/Loxone Music Server x Zones).Configure the amount of music servers you want, and their zones.Download and install the ZIP file and restart the LoxBerry. While this may seem to be a tricky setup, it enables users to configure whatever action they want when the user clicks play, pause, etc. The Music Server interface provides virtual inputs and outputs into the Loxone Miniserver, from which you can act based on the different actions provided by the Music Zone interface. Each fake music server can be configured with an arbitrary number of zones. Fake music servers are created in different ports of the LoxBerry, starting at port 6091. This plugin provides a fake music server that the Loxone Miniserver can connect to. Some help is also welcome, especially in the Virtual IO and the Web interface parts. Please report bugs through the GitHub interface. Note: right now the plugin is in a very early phase of development, and it's currently unstable. This is not so much an issue with creating a scatter plot as it is an issue with its interpretation. Heatmaps in this use case are also known as 2-d histograms. As a third option, we might even choose a different chart type like the heatmap, where color indicates the number of points in each bin. We can also change the form of the dots, adding transparency to allow for overlaps to be visible, or reducing point size so that fewer overlaps occur. One alternative is to sample only a subset of data points: a random selection of points should still give the general idea of the patterns in the full data. There are a few common ways to alleviate this issue. It can be difficult to tell how densely-packed data points are when many of them are in a small area. Overplotting is the case where data points overlap to a degree where we have difficulty seeing relationships between points and variables. When we have lots of data points to plot, this can run into the issue of overplotting. Common issues when using scatter plots Overplotting Each row of the table will become a single dot in the plot with position according to the column values. In order to create a scatter plot, we need to select two columns from a data table, one for each dimension of the plot. This can be useful if we want to segment the data into different parts, like in the development of user personas. Scatter plots can also show if there are any unexpected gaps in the data and if there are any outlier points. We can divide data points into groups based on how closely sets of points cluster together. Relationships between variables can be described in many ways: positive or negative, strong or weak, linear or nonlinear.Ī scatter plot can also be useful for identifying other patterns in data. You will often see the variable on the horizontal axis denoted an independent variable, and the variable on the vertical axis the dependent variable. In these cases, we want to know, if we were given a particular horizontal value, what a good prediction would be for the vertical value. Identification of correlational relationships are common with scatter plots. The dots in a scatter plot not only report the values of individual data points, but also patterns when the data are taken as a whole. Scatter plots’ primary uses are to observe and show relationships between two numeric variables. This tree appears fairly short for its girth, which might warrant further investigation. We can also observe an outlier point, a tree that has a much larger diameter than the others. From the plot, we can see a generally tight positive correlation between a tree’s diameter and its height. Each dot represents a single tree each point’s horizontal position indicates that tree’s diameter (in centimeters) and the vertical position indicates that tree’s height (in meters). The example scatter plot above shows the diameters and heights for a sample of fictional trees. Scatter plots are used to observe relationships between variables. The position of each dot on the horizontal and vertical axis indicates values for an individual data point. A scatter plot (aka scatter chart, scatter graph) uses dots to represent values for two different numeric variables. Every time I try using a shock trap with even just one other player, the monster breaks out of it before I can throw my first tranq. I swear its just me, but shock traps are useless in multiplayer. Additionally, an EZ version of the Shock Trap, four EZ Tranq Bombs, and an extra Trap Tool are included in the Supply Box on Quests with a Capture objective. This Item can only be obtained through Crafting. See Loadouts for information on configuring Item storage and use. See Botanical Research for information on cultivating large amounts of crafting materials. If a Trap is not triggered or remove for five minutes after being deployed, it will disappear. Note that only one Trap can be placed at a time. Once placed on the ground, a Trap can be removed by approaching it and interacting with it this will destroy the Item. Tranquilizers can also be safely applied to sleeping monsters without waking them.Ĭapturing a Monster will complete either a Hunt or a Capture objective for it and result in a few more Quest rewards to compensate for the inability to gather Materials from its body. After being affected by two Tranquilizers, a Monster can be captured for the next 45 seconds, and every successive tranquilizer extends the duration by 100 seconds, with no upper limit. Using two Tranq Bombs, Tranq Knives, or Tranq Ammo rounds is enough to capture any Monster, before or after it is caught in a Trap. While caught in a Trap, a Monster can be captured if it is an a Weakened state - denoted by this symbol on the minimap when the Scoutfly Level for that Monster is at level 3. If a Monster is weak (⭐⭐⭐) against Paralysis it will be trapped for ten seconds. When a Large Monster enters this area, it will immediately be immobilized for 7.5 seconds similarly to the Paralysis Status Effect. Using a Shock Trap from the Item Bar while in the field will deploy it on the ground at the Hunter's feet, priming a small area around it. It allows a Hunter to incapacitate a Large Monster for a short time, setting it up for Capture or an opportunity to go on the offensive.Ī trap that immobilizes a target. The Shock Trap is a consumable Pouch Item in Monster Hunter World (MHW). Much like Real Time With Pause, consider switching back to Fists when you get later in the game and have access to the Abilities mentioned above. Once you have this Ability, it is again advised that you use a Two-Handed Weapon as it is a Primary Attack and will not allow you to strike with both Fists. If you’re playing Turn-Based, all of your normal attacks will hit with both Fists, giving you the flexibility to use them until you gain Torment’s Reach at level 5. This makes Two-Handing the best way to maximize damage when using these abilities. Torment’s Reach and Skyward Kick are both Primary Attacks, meaning they only hit with one weapon. However, consider swapping back to Fists later on in the game, when you have access to Flagellant’s Path and Whispers of the Wind to make best use of these. This will save your Mortification to be spent on Swift Strikes and Dance of Death, which will significantly boost your DPS. This means that if you are playing Real Time With Pause you will only attack with your main hand if using Fists, and you are better off going with a Two-Handed Weapon to make best use of Torment’s Reach and Skyward Kick, as these are Primary Attacks, and don’t use the off-hand weapon. The only Full Attack you will gain early on is at level 5 in the form of Stunning Fists, but this ability is situational and not particularly good at boosting damage, and so will not be used all that often. However, what Weapons it’s best to outfit Xoti with will be somewhat impacted by which game mode you are playing in, and where you are in the game. This is because you gain Damage, Accuracy and Penetration with them as you increase in Power Level, usually outperforming other Weapons until late game. Whenever you are playing a Monk Build, you always want to consider using Fist Weapons. This passive is especially good for a melee Monk and is the reason I make her a melee character when using her. Her stat spread is better for RTWP, but still works ok in Turn-based. When playing Turn-Based, she will attack with both Fists on all regular attacks, helping to boost her damage early on, before she gains access to Torment’s Reach and Skyward Kick. When playing Real Time With Pause Xoti will attack rather quickly due to high Dexterity and Swift Strikes. This grants you more Wounds when you kill one, allowing you to use them over and over. The way this Build works is by using Dance of Death and Mortification of the Soul to gain Wounds, and then by using Torment’s Reach and Skyward Kick to attack enemies. And second, the unique Priest Class she gains doesn’t really do a whole lot, other than giving her a few select spells that are not overly useful. This bonus is completely wasted if she is ranged, or doesn’t deal much damage, which is often the case if you Multiclass her with a Priest. Xoti is very well rounded, but high Dexterity makes her attack especially fast in RTWP.įirst, the benefit she gains for being a Sister of the Reaping Moon gives her 3 Wounds whenever she kills something with a melee attack. When I use Xoti, I usually drop her into a melee Striker Role rather than the Support Role, and there are a couple reasons for that. Xoti’s stat spread contains a bit of everything, so she won’t be particularly amazing, but she can be decent at either Support or Striking. This can be a very tough decision for new players because it’s one that is permanent, and cannot be reversed later. Once recruited, you will immediately need to choose between a Single Class Monk, Single Class Priest, or a Multiclass Contemplative (a mix of the two). After the brief dialogue (that auto plays) when you get there, head right and you will find her in discussion there. Xoti can be found in Port Maje, which is the first town you will come to on the world map. Pillars Of Eternity 2 Deadfire Companion Build Guide: Xoti Please note that this Build Guide was updated for the 5.0 version of the game, as well as 1.02 on console (as of January 25th, 2020), and works with both Real Time with Pause and Turn-Based. If you plan to use Xoti in your party then read on for some insight into this pious Companion. I’ll be explaining my Monk Build for both the regular real-time with pause and turn-based modes, so that anyone can use her effectively. In this Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Build Guide we’re going to be taking a look at the second companion you usually acquire: Xoti. “This may not be easy, but it’s ‘a new thing,’ and I am excited to embark on this journey, work with top designers and inspire others to learn from their own mistakes and pursue their dreams, too.”ĭespite her journey into interior design, Dash hasn’t completely given up her celebrity lifestyle. “Interior design has always been a personal passion and a dream of mine,” she continued. If you are going early in the spring the shore line will be very marshy, and it will be difficult to make it to the lake without getting a bit wet. The hike in from the road is a short half mile. When I talked to John Koenig about this trip later, I discovered this last spot was where the rare northern adder’s-tongue ( Ophioglossum pusillum) had been found-a plant I’ve never seen before.Hidden lake is a great little 11 acre lake up the Cougar valley past the reservoir. I took a quick walk out on a log over the shrubs and then turned back. It was mostly choked with willows and hardhack ( Spiraea douglasia). The latter didn’t seem terribly interesting and didn’t seem like it had much herbaceous wetland. The first was another nearby lake, but I decided it didn’t look promising enough to warrant going down a steep bank to get to it. Before heading home, I made a few quick stops at nearby sites I’d seen on Google Earth. I only stayed a short while looking at one shore before heading back to the road. It was also quite shallow and filled with plants, but there weren’t quite as many interesting ones as the first little lake, and there was no bog or sundews. The first hidden lake was also filled with threeway sedge (front), bog buckbean (Menyanthes trifoliata), and a number of other aquatics.Īlthough the second hidden lake is only about 500′ from the first one, going over numerous logs and through tangles of rhododendrons-all in rubber boots-made it seem farther than that. Western oxypolis ( Oxypolis occidentalis) was in full bloom here and underneath numerous shrubs growing along the edges. On the south side, there was a small mossy bog with round-leaved sundews and tiny-flowered Oregon willowherb ( Epilobium oregonense). More threeway sedge and other true sedges ( Carex spp.) filled in the transition area between open water and (semi)solid ground. With binoculars, I could make out some lingering flowers on a narrowleaf bur-reed ( Sparganium angustifolium), old yellow pondlilies ( Nuphar polysepala), and maybe some kind of pondweed ( Potamogeton sp.). There were lots of interesting aquatic plants in the water, but I had a hard time getting close enough to get a good look at them. It was a good thing I had my boots on because even in August it was quite wet around the edges and didn’t have a very well defined shoreline. The first lake was only 300′ or so from the road. The old road bed had filled with smaller trees, so I just headed out through the woods, armed with my aerial photo. The road is now blocked off past the parking site for the lake, but after only a short walk past the blocking boulders and around the corner, I headed into the woods where an old road sign indicated a former road that once went between the two small lakes. With all the hubbub at the not-so-hidden Hidden Lake, I was ready to get away from the crowds (including a visit from a state police trooper-that’s a first for me while out botanizing!) and headed off to go find the two really hidden lakes across the road to the north of the main lake. Western oxypolis is a fairly rare plant that has only been found south of the McKenzie Highway. I’m still mourning the loss of my camera that got irreparably damaged during my quick dunk there and did not want a repeat of that. The bouncing effect wasn’t that different from the trampoline! And after my recent fall into a deep hole at Quaking Aspen Swamp (see Highs and Lows at Quaking Aspen Swamp), I really didn’t want to break through. I carefully walked along the edges, but I didn’t feel comfortable going out into the center. What I hadn’t remembered was that this is a floating bog. Although I hadn’t thought to bring a bathing suit, I was prepared with rubber boots. While everyone else was focused on the lake itself, I was more interested in the bog that lies along the northeastern edge of the lake. That actually looked like fun, but it was a little cool, and I wasn’t prepared to swim-another time perhaps. Adults were also swimming and jumping off a trampoline that is attached to a dock out in the middle of the lake. Unfortunately, that day was a Sunday, and the lake was particularly noisy with excited children. porrifolia, neither of which have “hoods”. I believe this is normal variation in the species-at least in this area-and not necessarily a sign of hybridizing with the far less common S. While the upper two tepals almost always form a partial hood, the lateral tepals may complete the hood (left), point upward (center), or stick way out to the side (right). I’ve been looking at a lot of them lately and noticing how varied their “hood” is. Hooded ladies tresses (Spiranthes romanzoffiana) is a fairly common late summer orchid in Western Cascade wetlands. Both types of flying style stage are tons of fun it's no Rogue Squadron, but a quick paced fun addition none the less. Some of these are free flying battles, but some are on-rails, such as taking on the Starkiller in a sequence reminiscent of the old Death Star trench. There are also plenty of space combat battles, like X-wing-on-Tie Fighter dogfights above the forests of Takodana, or flying the Falcon through the Star Destroyer wreckage of Jakku. The combat gets a new addition too, with some new cover shooter sections, which are simple and brief, but an enjoyable addition. It's not yet utilised to its fullest, but it's clear this will be a major gameplay feature going forward. This entry adds some new features and stages, puzzles have a new "multi build" feature that gives different options on what to build at numerous points, these builds can then be destroyed and other choices built. This fits perfectly with the source material, making for many funny moments, like, for example, how Kylo Ren's sulky moods and tantrums look even better as he trashes his emo kid bedroom, or an entire stage which is dedicated to Rey, who uses force suggestions on her Stormtrooper guard while they banter. It lends itself very well to the LEGO formulae, with each of the major plot points transforming into stages, altered slightly to include the series signature humour. That being said, the storytelling here is far superior. It makes sense to have numerous smaller hubs in this way, considering the Star Wars setting with its numerous planets to traverse, but it can't live up to the superb high bar set by Marvel. The Force Awakens goes with the familiar hub areas outside of levels instead of a single open world. The fundamentals of the gameplay remain the same: trek across stages destroying blocks, and building others whilst completing simple puzzles. This is the 5th instalment of a LEGO Star Wars title and TT Games has had plenty of time to perfect it, even managing to make something great out of the prequels! Anyone who's ever played a LEGO title (and it'd be tricky to find many who haven't these days) knows what to expect here. The formulae of the LEGO game is tried and tested. |
